Do you have GA pre-k?
/No. We do not offer lottery funded GA pre-K.
When can I enroll?
/After attending our Open House, you may submit an application. You will be notified of your child’s acceptance by the end of March. If there is not a space for your child during the enrollment period, we encourage parents to join our waiting list to be considered for future openings at SMS. Please reference the admissions page for specific dates and details.
When can we come in for a tour?
/We do not offer individual tours at this time because we currently have very few openings and an extensive waiting list. The best time to visit our school is during our Open House which we host each year in January. If we have an opening to fill during the school year, we will directly contact a family from the waiting list to visit our school before they enroll their child.
What are the tuition details?
/The tuition rates are available on our website. The monthly tuition is based on 10 equal payments of the annual tuition rate. Tuition is due on the 1st of each month. We do require parents sign a yearly contract with our school.
What qualifications do your teachers have?
/We have very highly educated and trained teachers at SMS. Our teachers and assistants have Bachelor degrees and/ or Master’s degrees in Early Childhood Education. All of our teachers also have Montessori teaching certificates from either the American Montessori Society (AMS) or the Pan American Montessori Society (PAMS). Both programs are MACTE accredited Montessori teacher education programs.
How long have you been open?
/We opened February 1, 2011
How are you accredited?
/SMS is licensed by the State of Georgia Department of Early Learning. We are also a Full Member School of the American Montessori Society. We are currently working towards full accreditation from the American Montessori Society, a process which takes several years.
What is your school calendar?
/Our school year runs from the beginning of August until the end of May. The children will attend 180 school days just as they would in a typical elementary school. Our school follows a “balanced calendar” which has been adopted by most school districts around the Atlanta area. We begin our school year a bit early (the first week of August) and include multiple weeks off each school year. Please visit our calendar to see exact school holidays and closings.
Do you have a summer program?
/Yes. We offer a 6-week morning summer camp. This program is a completely separate and optional program.
Do you have any before or after school care?
/No. We do not offer any before or after school care at this time.
